Passed away peacefully at Green Gables Rest Home on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in his 94th year. Loved husband of the late Ngaire, and loved father and father-in-law of Donald and Charmaine, Sharmaine and Ross. Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, loved brother and brother-in-law. Special thanks to the staff and nurses at Green Gables for their love and care. A private service for Doug has been held. Messages can be sent to the Sparks family, c/- 164 Tahunanui Drive, Nelson 7011.

I was fortunate enough to meet Doug by sharing a room with him during his last stay in Ward 9. We had some good chats & enjoyed each others company. I am saddened to read of Doug passing so soon.
