To Alex & Dougal's family,
Our hearts go out to you & the whole family & we can only add our deepest condolences for you all. There's too few people in the world with Dougal's spirit, intelligence & never give in attitude. He was far too young to leave us & will be sorely missed by you, his family & many friends.
Whilst we've been unable to visit NZ for the last couple of years, when we do manage to get back, somehow it won't be quite the same knowing that we wont see Dougal 'popping in' on his bike as he's passing for a ride 'up the hill' & I will particularly miss his cheery attitude & indomitable spirit around the race circuits.
Our thoughts will be with you on Monday. X

Ive known Big D for 10 years now , he was a genuine , lovely guy, always up for a laugh and he gave the very best bear hugs , I´m so sad he´s gone, but know his loss will leave a massive hole in partner Alex and his children and grandchildren´s lives , love to you all at such a sad time

Very surprised and sad to learn of Dougal's passing. Even after almost 50 years I'd have recognised that smile. We hung out as kids, attended same school. I recall him whizzing down Princess Drive on his bike, hair streaming, sideburns blazing! We used to pile into his mum's Triumph and drive around Back Beach. A lovely man whom I've no doubt will be sorely missed. Sincere condolences to his family.
