Dorothy Catherine: ONZM
Peacefully in Nelson on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Dearly loved wife of the late Bill Matthews. Beloved mother of Christopher, Jeremy, Philip, and Caroline. Cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. A Requiem Mass to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church, Manuka Street, Nelson, on Saturday, April 17, at 10.00am. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Nelson Tasman Hospice would be gratefully appreciated and may be left at the service or sent to PO Box 283, Nelson 7040.

I have known Dorothy for only 7 years. It was love at first sight. We have been good friends. Because she is a neighbour only part-time, we managed with twice-weekly phone calls. Lots of laughter. That's what friends are about. We talked about anything and everything. She was my friend. I'll always miss her. xx Ruth

So sad to read of Dorothy's passing. She used to brighten my day while dropping off her meals. I remember the laughs and joy, stories of the family she was so proud of, and her scolding on my lack of lipstick. A truly grand lady who really touched my life. My condolences to her family who have lost such a treasure.
