David NALDER Obituary

NALDER,
David Kingsley (Kingy):
3 June 1940 - 30 April 2018
Kingy passed peacefully at home. Precious son of the late David and Nancy Nalder (formerly of Takaka). Dearly loved dad of Judy (Australia), Allan and Carol (Rockville), and Adrienne and Darren (Motueka). Proud granddad of Matthew, Katherine, Chloe, Natalie, Louise, Rachael, Kaytlin and Holly. Great-granddad of Rune, Kyrah and the late Laylah. A respected and greatly loved brother of Rose, Kathy (late), Charlie (late), Margie, Bernie, Josie, Geoff, Nigel, Mark and Allister. A much loved brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and hunting mate to many. Special thanks to all those, both personally and professionally that cared and supported Kingy in these last months and weeks. In particular to Dr Ollie Madigan, whose continued care, compassion and respect allowed this old Takaka hunter to have his final wish of being at home, surrounded by love. In respect of Kingy's wishes, a private cremation has been held. A family celebration of his life will be held at a later date (TBA). Messages for the Nalder family may be sent c/- 25 McGlashen Street, Motueka 7120.
"May your sights be straight and true, enjoy those new hunting grounds Kingy"

Thinking of you today especially, Dad, on what would have been your 78th birthday.
I'll always remember you for the young man who worked so hard when we were kids to build our home at Hope including all the gardens, vege garden, fencing, paths, 1/2 an acre of potatoes & onions at one stage, chooks(bantams), a few sheep, etc ALL while working full time as a painter & decorator. You went hunting, fishing, possuming, whitebaiting, floundering, cockling, diving, tramping, camping etc etc..I remember well and even now, although not things I need to do daily , ha ha, I could shoot a rabbit, fish, grade a possum skin, spear a flounder, drive & maintain a boat, check under the bonnet of my car (Holden, of course!), catch whitebait, put up a tent etc
Most of all I remember your infinite patience. You always had time for me.Quietly, patiently explaining the mechanics of our car as you worked; sitting there while I brushed your hair (or what there was of it ); so many memories which taught me to be patient with my own children and respect them for the beautiful people they are.
Your time and love was most precious, thank you,❤
Rest easy now, Dad/ Grandad
With love always, Jude, Matt, Katherine & Chloe ❤

Our deepest sympathy to everyone at this sad time of David's passing.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAVID.
A painter decorator by trade, with unmatched skills to his credit, David was held in high esteem by those around him in the industry.
As an outdoors adventurer, the mountains were his calling, with a pack on his back, rifle and dogs at his side, David was in his element.
Tramping trips with David were truly memorable, a reliant tramping companion and great mate to everyone who ventured out with him.
His love for fishing in the warmer seasons was a way of relaxation, and a long cool beer, an elixir for a real Kiwi bloke.
We will always remember David as :- Brother inlaw, Uncle and Mate.
