It saddens me read about Chris passing away ,thinking of you Trish and family ,lots of cool memories over at the bay growing up on and off with Chris and his children ( and being little yet so impressed how much he knew about the muppets )
He will be missed ,but I know dad will be very happy to see him .love to all

Many good memories from our time at East Takaka. He was rebel and could see through the superficial. At the same time he was kind and caring, always generous with his time and supplies of tea and coffee down at his cosy cottage on the river bank. I saw him last in Feb 23. I had made his favourite (and mine) carrot cake, the recipe he had given is from the old Hitching Post in Nelson, years earlier. It was good to catch up and I was looking forward to another nostalgic repeat later this year.
A sharp crackling icy East Takaka morning to a swelteringly hot summer afternoon, the sound of mooing from cattle across the river and the scratching and chattering of possum on the roof at night, this was his little piece of paradise.
I wish you well wherever you may go. A special condolences to Pippa and Mike, whom I knew as little people and to his offspring and siblings. Chris always spoke so well of his kids and grandchildren, he had a soft spot for them all.
