Fond memories of being in my late teens and Andrew taking me through his extensive vinyl collection and introducing me to the Jazz Greats Ella, Billy and Koko Taylor and choosing songs, he thought would suit my voice.. then learning the songs and going to the Nelly for Wednesday Jazz ( Hotel Nelson) long before I was allowed in a pub .. Sail on Andrew .. RIP and deepest condolences to Viv and Family xx

Dear Viv & family
So many sea trips, sharing the magic of deep ocean secrets;
So many debates into the night on the Bridge;
So many beers in a pub in so many ports;
Beaut hospitality at Nile St so many years ago;
So many lives crammed into one.
My thoughts are with you all.

Oh Viv- so sad to hear of Andrew's death. He was larger than life, wasn't he- so many talents and enthusiasms, such a great belly-laugh, so widely travelled, such a huge store of knowledge and anecdotes - and he's had you by his side for so many years. Probably even serenading you as he played his saxophone on the bridge, on the waters of the Antarctic. If I can do anything to help, Viv- do let me know. With love and sympathy, Jean Edwards, Peter Lole

Dearest Viv, Victoria, Siobhan and my very best of friends Vashti.
I feel your heartbreak at this time and feel so privileged to be part of your family. I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss that cheeky man and feel so grateful to have spent a day with him recently. I will cherish that final dinner with him forever. He watched on adoringly as you all conversed and we shared a glass of wine. As he left I gave him a hug and he said night night Smiles. Well it's my turn to reluctantly say night night to you dear Andrew. You will be sorely missed.

To Vivian and Family
So sorry to hear of Andrew's passing.
We will always remember his joy of life and remember when you both joined the Nelson Underwater Club, and spent time as committee members and on dive trips.
Unfortunately we lost contact with you both over the years but now and again we would meet up and Andrew always had that grin.
I speak for the rest of my family who have very fond memories of Andrew and are sorry to hear of his passing.

Dear Viv and girls,
We were very sad to hear the news down here in Karitane. We had always hope that both Andrew and Viv would get down for a visit it just wasn't to be but there is always a bed with your name on it Viv.
We knew him through his music and we know of his other talents, but we will never hear the (hope I get the name right) Peanut Song we will think of him.
Be strong I know that you will be surrounded by friends wish we lived closer.
Love from Doug and Rose Wright.

Andrew - a delightful friend of the Heaphy family for more than 45 years: so interesting but more than that, so kind and always offering to help. It's a real truth that Andrew has "left the place better for his being"
Deepest sympathy Viv and "the girls".
