Thinking of all of you at this sad time. So sorry we were not at the funeral as we are now living in Waimate and did not find out in time. Alan was a true friend to me during my time in the kiwi fruit industry and then after when I remarried it turned out he knew my husbands father and most of his friends From his days down in Southland. Alan was a real gentleman, genuine and there for anyone who knew him. His family was so important to him and he loved them all. David used to come out to our orchard when he was a litttle boy to play with my son. A long time ago. One of my best memories of Alan was when we were away for a conference for Zespri it was a weekend and everyone else was out partying and with me not drinking hating being away from home him and I went to Rotorua and did some sight seeing. We had such a good time as neither of us liked being away from home. Kathleen was his life. He was almost like a father figure. The last time we called into the home to see him he could not get the words out but ask about his family and his face just lit up. You have lost a wonderful father, grandfather and friend but those that knew him will never forget him. He is the person who leaves an impact on life and made other people's lives better. You have our deepest sympathy.
