Uncle Alec was a good family man, always with a listening ear. A good hardworking Kiwi, a private man who loved the outdoors. He will be missed.

A very dear friend we got to know on our many trips to Marahau. Alec always made us feel so welcome and we enjoyed our catch ups. He was so caring of others and enjoyed life to the full. Marahau won't be the same without you. Our sincere condolences.

Very sad to hear Alec has passed away.
A true inspiration whether on his bike or long walks into the Abel Tasman Park.
We always enjoyed catching up with Alec either at his house or when out for a walk, always keen for a yarn.
Alec having been raised in Nelson South, had a wonderful recall of the history of the area and the lifestyle. As a history buff, I loved hearing Alec´s stories.
Deepest sympathy to all the family, he will be missed.

Alec was a Marahau legend for a lot of us. His energy and enthusiasm to keep fit and healthy in his older years an inspiration.
He walked the Abel Tasman track daily and would often ride his bike to Kaiteriteri and back to keep fit.
He took a real interest in the progress of the kids in the street as they grew from young children into adults.
He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed having a yarn at his gate.
Sincere condolences to his family,he will be missed.
