BETTLE, Rick:
On January 26, 2016, Rick died peacefully at home surrounded by family, after a spirited battle with cancer. His 68 years of life brought great joy to so many people, especially his "dear wee lady" - beloved, adored wife and best friend, Lou. Much loved Dad, Grumps, Nana, Grandpa, and mate to his children, grandchildren, and many friends and colleagues. A celebration of Rick's life will be held at The Honest Lawyer, 1 Point Road, Monaco, Nelson, on Waitangi Day, February 6, 2016, from 3.00pm. Please send messages via email to Toni Christie - [email protected]
You will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

This is sad news. Rick was our neighbor . in the early 1970s when we lived in Wainuiomata. at that time we could not buy fence posts, so Rick and I decided to make our own from concrete (reinforced). Rick would play squash on a Saturday morning, then help with the concreting, don't know where the energy came from. However
I believe these posts are still standing.
Rick and Lou taught my wife Kate and I to play squash. hard as I tried I never got anywhere close to Ricks level of play.

We were so sad to hear of Rick's passing. He was an exciting part of my childhood growing up. I only wish we stayed in contact more often. Though when we caught up it was as if time had never passed. Sending our deepest sympathy to Lou, George, Toni and all your family. Tony & Heather Green
