Michael ROGERS Obituary

ROGERS,
Michael (Mike):
18.4.1952 - 18.4.2017
The legend has passed peacefully through the pearly gates on his 65th birthday. Mike was surrounded by his three greatest creations - Morgan, Kelly and Callum, and the love of his life Barbara. Superstar grandad to Jack and soon to be grandbaby number 2. A loved man to his daughters-in-law Hope and Lacey. Loved and respected son-in-law to Justin and Lorraine; a wonderful brother to Simon and Mary-Ellen, and an absolute legend and advice giver of an uncle and friend to the Renwicks, Parkes, Gardners and Hitchcocks. A special thanks to Anna and Nelson Hospital for your continued support. In true Michael fashion his wishes are to have a private service. Messages can be sent to The Rogers Family, 55 Livingston Road, RD1, Brightwater, Nelson.
Rest easy Mike.
You'll never be forgotten.

It's not the same without mike at the end of South Street. I used to run lots of things by him to see what he thought. was a great mentor. loved the sense of humour, and classic comments.

Sometimes we wait to long. Went to see Mike after my daughter informed me he was not well but he was not at The South Street Gallery.
I worked with Mike in Wellington, for the Post Office (P&T) out of Herd St, in a Cable Fault Gang for a long period and we attended many social events as great mates. He had a special name for me but I would rather not repeat it.A great guy and as Don Adams says a true character. Not sure if you will need the sunglasses anymore mate. My condolences to the family on behalf of Tara my daughter and I.

A huge loss to the people of Nelson. Mike always greeted you with a huge smile and lots of great stories. A big personality that will be very much missed. He was the heart and sole of South Street.

Absolutely hands down the best father in law one could ask for!
8.5 years ago I was welcomed into your home with your amazing sense of humour which made me feel straight at home, you helped me out a huge number of times over the years while morgan was away with work and the lawns needed doing or something needed to be fixed around the house, we Shared the same quirky dry humour which no one else has or understood therefore only you laughed at my jokes and mine with yours! That's what I'll definitely miss the most when walking into your home!
Thanks for being the best grandad to jack, taking him on adventures and allowing him to play in your car for hours on end! He also enjoyed the books you would read to him! It's breaks my heart that this grand baby number two is only days away from making an appearance and you couldn't be here to meet it but I know you will be watching from above!
I miss you every day there's now no one to hassle and take the Micky out of my husband with..... we made a great team hahahaha !!!! I am now out numbered
Thinking of you always I promise to make you proud and keep you in my children's memories
Love you always x

You where the best boss possible and the heart of St Street. I can't even recall how many years we went into St Street every weekend to say hi and check up on pots. I can't thank you enough for the years of weekend/holiday work that you gave to me that funded my education. You where generous and so easy to be around. Thanks for everything.
