Betty INGRAM Obituary

INGRAM, Betty Eleanor
(formerly Sigley):
Of Levin. On October 1, 2017, aged 84, following a brain hemorrhage. A gifted teacher for much of her life, Betty also had many other talents, including one for friendship. She was loved by many, but she will be missed most dearly by her husband Derek, daughters Sarah and Rachel, sons in law Jamie and David, and grandchildren Grace, Matilda, Angus, William, Islay May and Dougal. Thank you to all those who have supported us over the past three weeks. We have had a private cremation, as Betty wanted, but a celebration of her life to which everyone is invited will take place at Poroutawhao School (on State Highway 1, 15 minutes north of Levin) at 2.00pm on Sunday, October 22.

So sad to hear of Betty's passing.
I have such happy memories of Betty,Derek, Sarah and Rachel.Times spent on the farm watching Derek water Skiing on the river, fireworks in the paddock.
Betty had alot of empathy for my younger brother Nigel at Kahutara school and he often spoke of her.
Loved her laugh. Betty will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Deepest Sympathies to all.

I was so sad to hear of Betty's passing. I have so many fond memories of Betty and Derek during their time at Plateau School. Betty examining me for my Brownie Book Lover badge(!), her smile that made you feel really special. I should also add that Derek and Betty's encouragement are one of the reasons I'm doing what I do now. Thank you to both of you. Sending so much love from the other side of the world.

To Derek, Sarah and Rachel and family, Our entire family love the Ingrams and we are so sad for you all to have lost Betty.
She was a rock in all our lives. I was inspired by both Betty and Derek to take a career in teaching. Derek's deep gravelly voice and Betty's exciting laugh enriched our lives at Kahutara . Vic and Janet both loved them so much too. I cannot say how sad we are. We send our deepest love to you all. I am also sad I cannot make the service on 22nd but I will be there in spirit .Please accept my apology .Love Robbie Bargh

I will always remember Betty.. She was the first teacher for each of my 3 children at Plateau school.. she was also the only teacher to give my youngest a smack on the bottom to stop her misbehaving each day when I left her at school.. from then on she was on her best behaviour.. You couldn't do it these days mores the pity.
Both Betty and Derek made our school a friendly welcoming place to be.
Even when they left the school they both made us welcome at their next venture, Tokaanu lodge, where we took the oldest kids away for their end of year trip.
She gave my kids a fantastic start to their school lives... I thank her very much for this... Betty the world will be a lesser place without you in it.

Our deepest sympathy to the family. Betty along with the Loving Derek were the most loved couple teaching in Upper Hutt. The community of Te Marua have siblings that were taught by Betty in New Entrants and I know my children still talk about her to their siblings. My grandchildren have also learnt about this wonderful lady and her family. My love and condolences go out to the family. Love from all the Max Family of Maymorn.

Our condolences to Derek and family. We are so saddened to read this notice of our lovely Betty. We shared so much fun and laughter over the years during her life at Waitarere and involvement at Poroutawhao school. Rest well my friend.
